Syracuse improved to 5-0 in their first matchup at the Hall of Fame Women’s Showcase at Mohegan Sun. The Orange took down Utah 61-49 Friday night.

Between blocks and boards, Syracuse dominated Utah. The Orange out-rebounded the Utes 49-31, and also had 10 blocks to Utah’s three.

USC transfer Dominique Darius led the way with a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double in the win Friday. It was Darius’ first double-double in her five-year college career.

Sophie Burrows struggled from the field yet again, scoring nine points on 3-of-11 shooting from the field. The Orange’s leading scorer last season has been ice cold in terms of scoring this season, but still finds ways to make a big impact. Burrows dished out a game-high six assists, adding five rebounds, two steals and four blocks in the win as well.

Texas transfer Lalia Phelia played all 40 minutes for the Orange, adding 14 points on 5-of-16 shooting.
