Two elderly people taken to hospital after rollover crash in Manlius; man in serious condition

Manlius, N.Y. — Two elderly people were taken to a hospital Friday night after a rollover crash in Manlius.

Around 5:32 p.m., first responders were called to a single-car rollover in the 7400 block of Collamer Road, according to a news release from the Manlius Police Department.

Winfield Babcock, 92, of East Syracuse, was driving east on Collamer Road in a Cadillac when he hit a parked, unoccupied vehicle on the south shoulder, police said. His wife, Marjorie Babcock, 91, of East Syracuse, was in the passenger seat.

The collision caused Babcock to lose control of the car, which rolled over and came to rest on its roof.

Both were taken to Upstate University Hospital. Winfield is in serious but stable condition. Marjorie was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

State Police and the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
