Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse football quarterback Steve Angeli will miss the remainder of the 2025 season, according to ESPN.
Pete Thamel reports that an MRI revealed Angeli tore his Achilles in Syracuse’s 34-21 win at Clemson on Saturday afternoon.
Thamel reported that Angeli expects to have two more years of eligibility, as he expects to qualify for a medical redshirt this season.
The injury happened with 3:09 remaining in the third quarter when Angeli was scrambling to his right before tripping and falling to the ground.

He couldn’t put any pressure on his left foot and was immediately helped to the medical tent.
Angeli had completed 18 of 31 passes for 244 yards and two touchdowns against Clemson to that point.
Angeli left Memorial Stadium in a boot and on crutches.
Angeli, who transferred to Syracuse from Notre Dame, entered Saturday’s game against the Tigers as the nation’s leading passer with 1,072 yards.
Syracuse will now turn to backup quarterback Rickie Collins Jr., a transfer from LSU, to lead the offense.
Angeli beat out Collins in a training camp competition to determine SU’s starting quarterback.
Syracuse head coach Fran Brown and his staff have spent the last two months saying they believe Collins can step in and win games if something were to happen to Angeli.
Now he’ll get his chance to prove his coaches’ statements to be accurate.
Collins currently has 137 passing yards and two passing touchdowns as a quarterback.
He has completed 66.7% of his passes in six appearances.
