Syracuse, N.Y. - Syracuse native Symir Torrence made the opening day roster of the Motor City Cruise, the G League affiliate of the Detroit Pistons.

Torrence, 24, posted on Facebook about making the team. He said he didn’t want to make a public announcement until it was official.

“To all my love ones thank you for everything and more. Time to celebrate then I’m back to business tomorrow,” he wrote.

Torrence, a 6-foot-2 point guard, started his college career at Marquette, made a stop in his hometown to play for Syracuse, then spent a final year at Binghamton.

He played overseas last season in Finland and Belgium. He has been a constant presence in the summer Salt City Pro-Am league.

The Cruise opens its season tonight at home against Sioux Falls.
