Syracuse, N.Y. ― Syracuse guard JJ Starling left the Orange’s regular season opener against Binghamton with an apparent leg injury just minutes into Monday night’s game at the JMA Wireless Dome.

Starling, a 6-foot-4 senior, limped to the Syracuse bench with 17:16 remaining in the first half of Monday’s game. He was in obvious pain, grimacing as SU’s medical staff tended to him.

After a few minutes, Starling got up and hobbled his way down the tunnel and into the Syracuse locker room.

Syracuse led 8-0 at the time Starling left the game.

Starling returned to the Syracuse bench a short time later with a towel over his head. He had his right thigh wrapped and appeared to be holding his hamstring.

SU director of athletic communications Pete Moore said that Starling had a lower body injury and was unlikely to return to the game.

Starling was SU’s leading scorer last year and 17.8 points per game.
