Syracuse, N.Y. -- Syracuse offensive coordinator Jeff Nixon has signed a multi-year contract with the Orange, according to a report by ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

Thamel reported that the new agreement includes a raise that will make Nixon one of the highest-paid coordinators in the ACC. Thamel cited anonymous sources.

Syracuse associate athletics director Tyler Cady confirmed that the school had reached a contract extension with Nixon. He declined to provide specifics on the length or other terms of the contract, citing university policy.

According to USA Today, the highest-paid coordinator in the ACC last year was former Florida State defensive coordinator Adam Fuller, who made just over $2 million. The highest-paid offensive coordinator was Clemson’s Garrett Riley at $1.75 million.

The extension follows a season in which Nixon paired with quarterback Kyle McCord to produce the country’s most productive passing offense and helped develop running back LeQuint Allen into one of the country’s top all-around running backs.

The performance was impressive enough that Nixon was briefly rumored to be a candidate for the head coaching position at Temple and reportedly interviewed for the Houston Texans coordinator job that recently went to Nick Caley.

Syracuse is one of eight schools in the ACC set to return both of its coordinators next season.

Nixon’s son, Will, is a running back who is expected to be a valuable member of the Orange football team following a recovery from surgery to repair a Lisfranc injury.

His daughter, Jasmine, joined the SU women’s soccer program during the offseason.
