Syracuse, N.Y. — Section III football players had one more chance to take the field before the end of the fall season.

Section III’s all-star team (Floyd Little) defeated the all-stars from Section IV (Ernie Davis), 56-7, in the fourth annual Big 44 All-Star game at Norwich High School on Sunday.

The Section III team was led by Liverpool quarterback John Sindoni (124 passing yards, 3 touchdowns). Cazenovia’s Bob Livingston also threw for 43 yards.

Section III’s rushing attack featured strong performances from Liverpool’s Alejandro Rivera (43 yards,1 TD), Indian River’s Trevor Shawcross (92 yards, 2 TDS) and Watertown’s Jack Converse (35 yards, 1 TD).

The top receivers in the game were Jamesville-DeWitt’s Anthony Guidone (25 yards, 1 TD), Cicero-North Syracuse’s Alex Salloum (40 yards, 1 TD), Rivera (34 yards, 1 TD) and Rome Free Academy’s Michael Sauerhafer (40 yards).

The US Army Award went to Moses Shan of Utica Notre Dame. Shawcross was named the offensive MVP and Central Square’s Ryan Fleischman received defensive MVP honors.

Players from Lowville, General Brown, New Hartford, Whitesboro and Christian Brothers Academy were not eligible to participate in the game because they reached the regional playoffs.

The Brothers are the last remaining Section III team in the state playoffs. They will face Section VI’s Lewis J. Bennett/Olmsted/Middle Early College/East Football in the semifinals at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Cicero-North Syracuse High School.

The Section III all-stars had won two of the last three matchups in this series, including last year’s 26-0 victory at Nottingham High School.

Team Floyd Little was led by Cortland coach Mike Barfield. His assistants will be Joe Sindoni (Liverpool) as offensive coordinator, Dan Cosselman (Cicero-North Syracuse) as defensive coordinator and Mike Losurdo (West Genesee) as special teams coordinator.

The game was sponsored by the Central New York Chapter of the National Football Foundation, the US Army and BMK Logistics.
