After a seven-year hiatus, Paul Simon is coming out of retirement with his “A Quiet Celebration Tour.”

The 83-year-old musician, best known for his work with Simon & Garfunkel and his extensive solo career, had previously announced his retirement from touring in 2018 due to significant hearing loss, a condition that worsened during the making of his 2023 album “Seven Psalms.”

However, after working with the Stanford Initiative to Cure Hearing Loss, Simon has found a way to manage his condition, according to Rolling Stone.

The “A Quiet Celebration Tour” kicks off on April 4 at the Saenger Theater in New Orleans and will continue with multiple nights in cities like New York, Austin, Dallas, Nashville, Toronto, Los Angeles, and Seattle, wrapping up on August 3.

Simon will be joined by a band made up of Caleb Burhans (viola), Jamey Haddad (percussion), Gyan Riley (guitar), and Mark Stewart (guitar), with Steve Gadd and Matt Chamberlin alternating on drums.

Simon recently previewed his return to the stage with a performance on the “Saturday Night Live 50th Anniversary Special” on Sunday. He kicked off the celebration by singing a duet of “Homeward Bound” with Sabrina Carpenter, a song that Simon first performed on “SNL” in 1976 with George Harrison. Watch the performance below:

Known for his groundbreaking work with Art Garfunkel as part of the duo Simon & Garfunkel, Simon’s legacy includes timeless songs like “The Sound of Silence,” “Mrs. Robinson,” and “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” His solo career is just as celebrated, with hits like “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover” and his critically acclaimed “Graceland” album.
