Wampsville, N.Y. — A 24-year-old man was shot in the neck Monday evening in Madison County, deputies said.
The shooting was reported at about 6:50 p.m. in the 200 block of North Court Street in the village of Wampsville, according to Lt. Jonathan Morticelli, a spokesperson for the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
The man was taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, Morticelli said. He is expected to survive.
An initial investigation determined that the shooting was a “targeted event,” with no ongoing danger to the community, Morticelli said.
