Syracuse, N.Y. — A man suspected of taking inappropriate photos of people struck two cars on Marshall Street as he tried to flee from police Tuesday afternoon in Syracuse, police said.
Police were called around 3:07 p.m. to the area of 1100 E. Genesee St. for reports that a man was acting suspiciously and taking inappropriate photos of people, said Lt. Matthew Malinowski, a Syracuse police spokesperson.
Police found the man in the 200 block of Marshall Street, Malinowski said. He ignored police commands and attempted to flee in a vehicle, he said.
The man, identified as Thomas B. Crudo, 30, struck two parked cars on the street and was placed under arrest after a struggle with police, Malinowski said.
Crudo’s vehicle had a dog inside that bit one of the arresting officers, Malinowski said. The officer was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, he said.
Crudo was charged with second-degree unlawful surveillance, obstruction of governmental administration, resisting arrest, tampering with physical evidence and aggravated assault, according to Onondaga County Justice Center records.
