Marie Morelli is editorial/opinion lead for Syracuse.com and The Post-Standard. She is an award-winning editorial writer, opining on such topics as politics and elections, public accountability, free speech and the quality of life in Central New York. Editorials represent the opinion of the Advance Media NY Editorial Board and can be found under that byline. Morelli also curates letters to the editor and guest opinions. She writes the weekly "Conversations in Leadership" feature. Morelli, a native of Buffalo, is a graduate of SUNY Buffalo State College with a degree in journalism. She worked at newspapers in Niagara Falls, Saratoga Springs and Washington, D.C., before joining the Syracuse Herald-Journal in 1989. Over her 36 years here, Morelli worked as a reporter, copy editor, Page One editor, business editor, magazine editor and editorial page editor. She is the recipient of numerous awards from the New York News Publishers Association, the Journalists Association of New York (formerly the New York State Associated Press Association) and the Syracuse Press Club.
