Retirement is no longer “Urgent” for Foreigner, which is good news for fans who still feel like it’s the first time they heard the classic rock band.
Styx and Foreigner announced their 2024 Renegades & Juke Box Heroes tour dates, including a July 30 concert at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center’s Broadview Stage at SPAC in Saratoga Springs. Special guest John Waite will open the concert at 6:45 p.m.
Tickets go on sale Friday, Dec. 8, at 10 a.m. through Live Nation; prices may vary. Presale tickets will be available Monday, Dec. 4, to Citi cardmembers.
Styx is a Grammy-nominated rock band known for hits “Lady,” “Come Sail Away,” “Mr. Roboto” and “Renegade.” The group will perform one other Upstate New York concert at the Landmark Theatre on March 24, without Foreigner.
The SPAC concert will be less than a year after Foreigner’s “historic farewell tour” in 2023 came to Darien Lake, Saratoga Springs and the St. Joseph’s Health Amphitheater at Lakeview in Syracuse. Lead singer Kelly Hansen suggested the 2024 trek will be a continuation of the farewell tour, though it’s unclear if original guitarist Mick Jones will join them.
“It’s been a little bit of an emotional roller coaster,” Hansen told Ultimate Classic Rock, “because as much as I want to stop touring nine months of the year, there’s also a level of recognition about what we’ve done and what we’re doing – and the gratitude and understanding of what it’s meant for us in our lives. … I’m on stage with my friends that I love and it’s a huge, huge thing every night.”
Styx singer Tommy Shaw told UCR that his band has no plans for retirement after more than 50 years of performing, and even plans to release new music soon.
Waite is a British rock singer known for his work with Bad English (”When I See You Smile”), The Babys (”Everytime I Think of You”) and as a solo artist (”Missing You”).
