Syracuse, N.Y. -- Dominique Darius, the daughter of former Syracuse football star Donovin Darius, announced that she will transfer to join the SU women’s basketball program.
She announced her transfer destination on Instagram.
Dominque Darius was a four-star prospect ranked as the No. 26 prospect in the country by ESPN HoopGurlz in 2021. She played the first two years of her career at UCLA before transferring to USC.
A 5-foot-10 guard, Dominique Darius did not play last season with the Trojans and played 19 games in 2023-24, averaging 2.5 points and 8.7 minutes per game.
Her team went 31-4 this season, advancing to the Elite Eight before losing to eventual national champion UConn.
Dominique Darius’ most productive college season came in 2021-22, when she averaged 5.4 points and 3.5 rebounds in 19.9 minutes per game with UCLA.
Donovin Darius starred as a safety at Syracuse and was named the Big East Defensive Player of the Year in 1997 after making seven interceptions. He went on to be picked in the first round of the NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
A native of Camden, New Jersey, Donovin Darius was a role model of current Syracuse football coach Fran Brown. Brown has pointed out that his first time watching a college football game came included a Syracuse team led by Darius.
The pair visited campus over the weekend and attended the football team’s spring game.
