A classic rock band wants to become a wedding band for at least one celebrity couple.
“Dear Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, we know what love is. We spent 40 years figuring it out... and now you guys have too,” Foreigner wrote in an “open letter” on Instagram. “Please accept this as our formal offer to be your wedding band.”
Foreigner is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group known for 1970s and ‘80s hits like “I Want to Know What Love Is,” “Hot Blooded,” “Feels Like the First Time,” “Waiting for a Girl Like You,” “Juke Box Hero” and “Cold As Ice.” The band remains popular today, as “I Want to Know What Love Is” recently surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify and several songs have appeared in TV shows like “Stranger Things” and “Wednesday.”
It’s unclear which members would potentially participate. Original lead singer Lou Gramm, a Rochester native, has appeared at a handful of concerts this year and current lead vocalist Kelly Hansen will be replaced by Luis Maldonado later this year.
Taylor Swift, a global music superstar, and Travis Kelce, a Super Bowl champion football player with the Kansas City Chiefs, announced their engagement last month after two years of dating. The couple has not announced their wedding date or who they plan to invite, but Swift has a lot of famous friends and music stars she’s worked with like Jack Antonoff (of Bleachers), Lana Del Rey, Ed Sheeran, Post Malone, Tim McGraw, Sugarland, Gracie Abrams, and Boys Like Girls.

It’s also possible Swift could skip a band and hire a DJ. She likely wouldn’t book Calvin Harris (duh), but “Uptown Funk” hitmaker Mark Ronson (whose stepfather is Foreigner co-founding guitarist Mick Jones) has DJ’d some major weddings like when Tom Cruise married Katie Holmes in 2006.
Mick Jones is the only Foreigner co-founder who is still an official member, though he no longer performs due to Parkinson’s disease. The band is set to perform Sept. 20 at the Turning Stone, re-release its 1981 album “4″ on Sept. 12, and celebrate its 50th anniversary next year
Swift and Kelce have not responded to Foreigner’s offer.
