Syracuse, N.Y. – The North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters will host an open house Tuesday, Nov. 18, for people interested in careers in carpentry and other skilled trades.

The event will be held at 5 p.m. at the council’s newly expanded Syracuse Training Center at 6920 Princeton Court in Salina (see map below).

The open house is part of a recruitment drive by the council to expand the regional workforce amid construction demand in Central New York.

The carpenters union recently completed a $3.6 million expansion of its training center, which tripled in size to 18,000 square feet.

Union officials said the modernized facility is designed to train carpenters for the specialized work needed on major projects, including the I-81 relocation project in Syracuse and the massive semiconductor manufacturing plant Micron Technology plans to build in nearby Clay.
