Syracuse, N.Y. ― Deron Rippey, a five-star prospect in the 2026 recruiting class, has narrowed his list of schools down to five.
Syracuse did not make the cut. On3.com first reported Rippey’s recruiting news.
In trimming down his list from nine schools to five, Rippey eliminated Syracuse, North Carolina, Kentucky and Louisville.
Rippey, the No. 1-ranked point guard in the ‘26 class, kept Miami, Duke, Tennessee, N.C. State and Texas on his list.
“There is no timetable set (for an announcement),’' Rippey’s father, Deron Sr., recently told NJ.com. ”(We are in) no rush.’'
Rippey Jr., a 6-foot-2 point guard, is a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., who attends Blair (N.J.) Academy. He is currently ranked No. 13 in the ‘26 class by On3 and No. 18 by ESPN.
Rippey visited the Syracuse campus earlier this fall.
Syracuse has yet to receive a commitment from a player in the ‘26 class. The Orange has just one senior, guard JJ Starling, on its roster.
