2 found dead at Upstate NY home; person of interest in custody

Two people have been found dead at a home in Upstate New York, according to New York State Police.

State Police said Troopers responded to a disturbance Sunday night on Botsford Hollow Road in the town of Allen. Two deceased individuals were found around 10:06 p.m.

A person of interest was identified, located and taken into custody, police said.

“There is no threat to the public,” NYS Police said in a statement.

Additional details, including the name of the victims or a possible cause of death, have not been released. Local publication The Wellsville Sun said a Facebook page called WNY Incident Alerts described the initial call as a double fatal shooting.

A criminal investigation is ongoing.

Allen is located in Allegany County, about 60 miles south of Rochester and 90 miles west of Ithaca.
